When we started thinking about Lamami, one question guided everything:
Where do students already live online?
The answer wasn’t surprising WhatsApp.
On Nigerian campuses, WhatsApp is already the operating system:
Students place food orders there
Vendors take orders there
Class updates happen there
Payments are discussed there
Yet, despite all this activity, nothing is structured.
Orders get buried in chats.
Details are missed.
Students repeat themselves.
Vendors get overwhelmed.
We didn’t want to build another app students have to download, log into, and remember.
We wanted to improve what already works.
Lamami lives inside WhatsApp because:
Students already understand it
Vendors already use it
Adoption is faster
Friction is lower
Our goal isn’t to change student behavior.
It’s to support it with structure.
Lamami turns WhatsApp conversations into:
Clear menus
Structured orders
Order tracking
Simple payments
Same chat. Less stress.
We believe the best campus tools don’t feel like tools they feel natural.
That’s why we’re building Lamami on WhatsApp
